Wargaming has announced that World of Warships will be raising anchor and setting sail for the high seas on September 17th. Over two million players took part in alpha and beta events that have resulted in a huge amount of feedback to prepare WoWS for launch.

Kotaku is reporting that the Japanese Imperial Navy flag, or the Rising Sun, is being removed from the game. It has been a source of controversy on the forums since closed beta. The flag will be replaced with the Japanese national flag.

Wargaming has announced that the global open beta for World of Warships is now underway. Over 400,000 players took part in the closed beta testing and now it's time to unleash the game on even more captains. The OBT will feature ten new maps, four vessel classes and much more.
