World of Warcraft Articles
World of Warcraft is getting ready to celebrate its fifteenth anniversary. No momentous occasion such as this would be complete without an amazing commemorative collector’s edition and a plethora of in-game festivities that will yield some fantastic rewards for players.
This year at PAX East Blizzard brought a demo of their newest content from the Battle for Azeroth expansion, Island Expeditions. These are small group content (3v3) and is meant to be playing in 15 – 30 minute bursts. There will be normal, heroic, mythic, and PvP modes available at launch but the demo was of the normal mode versus AI.
The new expansion continues to impress finally taking up the rally of the Horde. Blizzard had the factions working together a lot in the past few expansions. Battle for Azeroth sets the side apart again and allows factions to explore maps and islands apart and in contention. We started out in the Horde starting area and here is what we learned.
The next expansion for World of Warcraft is Battle for Azeroth that finally takes the dormant cold war between the two factions to the next level. We were able to get our hands on two of the new zones coming with the game’s 7th expansion. There’s a metric ton of new content coming with BfA, but sadly most of that new stuff has to wait for the beta. Read on for our impressions of Fallhaven and the town possessed by a Witch in Kul’Tiras.
World of Warcraft: Legion will be receiving its second milestone update when v7.2 “Tomb of Sargeras” hits in the next several months. Nighthold, the most recent raid, has just been opened in Mythic difficulty as well as LFR Wing 1 and the next big patch has already been applied to the Public Test Realm. 7.2 will bring in a new raid, a new dungeon and much more.
Come August 9th World of Warcraft players will be treated to the first new Hero Class in years. We had the chance to go through a making of retrospective for the class with the Blizzard team. The guys dug deep to talk about the feel of the class and how it operates among the rest that everyone has played for over a decade now.
Bill Murphy didn’t expect to find himself back in World of Warcraft, but on a whim he decided to re-subscribe and see what the upcoming pre-expansion patch is all about. In the week leading into the Pre-Patch (which launches today after maintenance), Bill finds himself reveling in old haunts, the victim of both nostalgia and hype for a major new update.
On March 15, 2016, Blizzard Entertainment and Dark Horse Comics will publish World of Warcraft Chronicle: Volume 1. The book is a compendium of lore and background information. The Legion expansion swirls around many of WoW’s iconic moments including Illidan, Queen Azshara, the Pillars of Creation, the Old Gods, the Titans and many others. We will be sharing a few excerpts over the course of the week and that will have relevance when Legion launches later in 2016.
It’s now been eleven years since World of Warcraft first captured the hearts and minds of millions. It’s frankly astonishing, even with smaller numbers these days, that Blizzard still touts millions of active monthly subscriptions. But, like many, the excitement with which I once awaited expansions and content updates has dwindled in recent years. I thought WoW was passing me by… and then I played the new Survival Hunter.
You are not prepared for my first impressions of the Demon Hunter! A new World of Warcraft expansion is like our Olympics, or the World Cup. Every few years it swings around and becomes all consuming, until we forget about it a few months after the fact. Some of us, at least.
The Demon Hunter is World of Warcraft’s new Hero Class coming with the Legion expansion sometime in the summer of 2016 (here’s hoping sooner rather than later). At BlizzCon 2015, we got our hands on the new class and played through its introductory zone, Mardum – The Shattered Abyss. Read on for full details and impressions!
