Ion Hazzikostas was on hand with Community Manager Josh Allen during a live stream event to answer community-submitted questions about World of Warcraft: Legion. The answers revealed a few interesting nuggets of information about several different topics.
Here's our own Catherine Daro's notes from the stream:
Pristine Servers:
Pristine Servers have been a floating idea. They are not aimed at the core legacy crowd that want old talent tree, etc. but are instead targeted at the social aspect of the game. The team is working on implementing social systems such as those from earlier days into the live version as well. Mythic dungeons (requiring a pre-formed group) is one of the ways to re-introduce the social part.
Flying:
Flying will be unlocked somewhere in the middle of Legion's life cycle but players can begin working toward that eventuality right from the start.
Alts: Leveling & Leveling Artifacts:
Legion is considered an "alt friendly" expansion due to replayability in artifact trees, class order hall campaigns, etc. Artifact knowledge is not account wide but every week the acquisition of artifact power speeds up. For example, in August getting a Knowledge Level might take five days, but a month later only four and two months out, only three days and so on.
Caster Spell Animations:
Spell animations are an ongoing project to give casters of all classes a custom feel. These will be released in pieces over a number of patches and expansions. Models have been updated, now it's time for animations.
Stat Squish
Numbers of health and damage output are back to being Mists of Pandaria level again. The team is thinking of another possibile stat squish closer to the end of the Legion / beginning of the next expansion. However, it is possible that another, more elegant system would be used instead.
Next week, the Legion team will be tackling questions about crafting and professions. These can be submitted through any of the World of Warcraft social channels or on the WoW community forums.
