A new bug might give you pause before swapping factions for MOTHERS Research in World of Warcraft Patch 8.3.
As of this writing, there’s a bug in which your character will lose progression during MOTHER Research. You’ll also lose any trait which has more than one rank. Reports also show that this bug may be linked to realm transfers.
For right now, you might want to hold off, lest you end up with a research tree like the one pictured above. Despite this bug, you won’t lose progress in Corrupted Mementos if you’re collecting achievements like Memento Mori, so that’s good at least.
