New Pack Takes Players Back

A new year, a new hoard pack. On Monday, Wizard101 introduced the "Alphoi Hoard Pack." If you're scratching your head at the word "alphoi," it's a type of race/creature in Empyrea. The tall skinny dudes to be exact. One was even holding a "The End is Pie!" sign. Suddenly the end doesn't seem too bad ...

Seemingly taking some inspiration from the 70/80s, the Alphoi Hoard Pack offers players a chance at funky roller skates, a disco-like wand, and more. To the Leisure Dome!

Light Blades Mount

The new Light Blades mount is a pair of some very colorful roller blades. When you move around, a confetti-like animation shoots out from your feet. I've never seen it, but I'm told this mount (and the pack in general) references an 80s movie named "Xanadu." The Light Blades don't offer any extra stats, but they do supply the standard +40% speed boost.

Mini Sani-bot Pet

Robots may be plotting to take over the world, but some are really cute. The Mini Sani-bot is a fire pet that comes with a Power Link card at baby. Its starting stats are fairly decent and the pet can be obtained through hatching.

Leisure Dome Gearset and Wand

You can embrace the Alphoi style with this outfit. Sadly, I don't think the stats are anything special - especially when compared with other packs. The Mirrored Relic wands are pretty cool looking though. Did someone say disco?

New House Guests

New Empyrean house guests are ready to invade your castle! Lots of Alphoi characters are available (duh), but some Beastmen are in the mix as well. They might be neat to add to an existing collection!

Final Thoughts

It's great that KingsIsle added something new this early into the new year, but I can't help but think that this pack falls flat. Aside from the pet, nothing really sticks out to me or screams "YOU NEED THIS." Even then, people are already offering to hatch with their Mini Sani-bots on Wizard101 Central. That said, I do already have the Winterglide Skates (which look and feel very similar to the Light Blades). If I didn't, I think I'd be much more excited to potentially get a roller blade mount. It's all perspective!

What do you think of this new pack? Let me know in the comments below.
