Wizard101 Articles
Well, it's not every day that you see an MMO turn 10 years old. With Wizard101's Steam launch inching closer and closer, the spiral is only expected to get even bigger. To gain some insight on this amazing milestone (and see what's coming up in the game's future), I caught up with Senior Creative Designer of MMO Content, Leah Ruben, and Lead Wizard101 Creative Designer, Sam Johnson.
The Wizard101 site has been updated with a fun look back at the game's first decade of existence. Senior Producer Leah "Professor Falmea" Ruben begins the letter with a collection of memories of some of the game's most significant milestones over the past ten years including a comparison between Wizard101 at launch and where it is today.
Just in time for its 10th Anniversary, Wizard101 is taking to Steam. It’s a move I’ve wanted KingsIsle to make for quite some time now, and I’m ecstatic that they’re finally taking the leap. However, there are a few important things that players need to know before they pack up their traditional launcher.
Wizard101 will be launching on Steam in the near future. The game will not be compatible with the standalone version, but most of the same services available at the current time will be available on the Steam version including family accounts, individual accounts, etc. One cool aspect is that all players share the same servers so Steam and standalone players can head out on adventures together!
As a tournament master, I make sure derby tournaments run smoothly and solve any problems that may arise. Strangely enough, my most frustrating derby experience didn't come from running a tournament. It came from preparing for a tournament.
I'm not exactly sure how Christmas in July started, but I'm sure not complaining. Wizard101 kicked off its celebration on Monday. Players have until July 29th to visit Felix Navidad, grab seasonal items, and participate in Christmas festivities.
Wizard101 will be going offline for the next update that is pack to the gills with all sorts of neat things for everyone. Players can look forward to an epic facelift for Wizard City itself from Unicorn Way to Olde Town. Character Creation, Character Selection and the Tutorial will all be updated too. It's not just visuals either, but also includes new sound and music.
Mirror, mirror on the wall, who's been wanting a makeover most of all? While I'm happy with my wizard's current features, most Wizard101 players welcomed the new Magic Mirror Shop that was included in the 2018 summer update. The shop, located in the Wizard City Shopping District, allows customers to change their hair, hair color, face, eye color, and skin tone.
Wizard101 is getting a 2018 makeover just in time for its 10th anniversary. While Renee Wooften puts the finishing touches on the revamped areas of the spiral, players remain eager to see the final result. Luckily, KingsIsle has supplied MMORPG.com with two exclusive teasers for the upcoming summer update.
There are some VERY talented and dedicated housing decorators in the KingsIsle community. Me? I'm certainly not one of them. I envy people who can see a blank canvas within castle walls. All I see is storage space. So, you can imagine my awe when I visit other houses with decorations dangling from ceiling to floor. If you're "decorating challenged" like me, you'll be happy to know that there are a few other uses for your castle other than a pretty tour destination.

As Wizard101 quickly approaches its 10 year anniversary, one mystery all the way from 2008 still remains unsolved. Who the heck are we and where did we come from? The game opens with Headmaster Ambrose and Gamma looking into a crystal ball. They claim that they've found someone who can ave Wizard City ... someone who comes from a world that doesn't even believe in magic. Then whoosh. Is it just me, or did the game just glaze over our entire origin story?!
If I've learned one thing over my 5ish years playing Wizard101, it's that the KingsIsle community is extremely dedicated. Whether it's in or out of game, most players are willing to do whatever they can to help other community members and support the game they love. This dedication made an interesting appearance over the weekend when 2 new prepaid cards were discovered and located in Dallas.
