Making Raids Matter Again

Raids. They’re the hardcorest of the hardcorest parts of WildStar. Mike Donatelli, Design Director at the studio, took some time out late last week to give us the lowdown on one of WildStar’s biggest flagship features: the raiding elder game.

The Gaffer Speaks - Part 2

Over the weekend at PAX East, we at MMORPG.com managed to snag an interview with one of the busiest people on the show floor, Carbine Studios' head honcho Jeremy Gaffney, aka the Gaffer. Given that a number of WildStar's biggest fans were unable to attend the convention, I thought it would be cool to reach out to them and other fans who were present to gather up some questions for the Gaffer, to truly make it more of a community interview rather than a standard press interview.

The Gaffer Speaks - Part 1

Over the weekend at PAX East, we at MMORPG.com managed to snag an interview with one of the busiest people on the show floor, Carbine Studios' head honcho Jeremy Gaffney, aka the Gaffer. The Evolving Battleground

As part of WildStar’s PvP Week, Gareth Harmer interviewed Carbine’s Jen Gordy and Kevin Lee about the latest beta updates hitting battlegrounds, an update on Warplots, and their plans for launch day and beyond.

How the Players Guided PVP Design

Now that the veil has been lifted from WildStar’s PvP and endgame content, we know that there’s a variety of ways in which players will be able to compete with one another. Battlegrounds, Arenas, and Warplots all open up to players at different stages of the game and can even be enjoyed as a leveling experience. We were able to sit down last week with Lead PvP Designer Jen Gordy and Battlegrounds Designer Kevin Lee at the Carbine press event to chat.

Philip Chan Dives Deep into Crafting

Just like with questing and PvP, crafting is an essential cornerstone of that rounded MMO experience. But what were the reasons behind WildStar’s two tradeskill systems, and what does Carbine hope to build with it? We caught up with Phillip Chan, the systems designer behind every workbench on Nexus.

Focused on Customization

It’s been a while since I’ve seen an AAA MMO put as much emphasis on player customization as Carbine Studios is with WildStar. Released just this morning, the latest DevSpeak video focuses squarely on the myriad ways Carbine will emphasize customization in their game. As a “fussypants” myself, I have to say I was genuinely excited by what I saw. We recently had an opportunity to discuss most of what was shown in the video in greater detail, so let’s get right to it.

The team over at Spanish WildStar fansite WildStar-ESP recently scored an interview with Creative Director Matt Mocarski of Carbine. We've teamed up to transcribe the full interview for you here, while the Spanish translation is over at WildStar-ESP. Enjoy!

Winter Beta Progress Report

WildStar’s Winter Closed Beta has been rolling along now for a few weeks, and we pulled Executive Producer Jeremy Gaffney out of the game his busy work schedule to chat about the progress Carbine is making, what the good and bad feedback has been on the beta so far, and when we can expect the floodgates to open and let loose thousands more testers into the fray. Plus, Jeremy may or may not have let slip a detail or two on the final two classes. Read on and find out for yourself.

The two final races have been revealed for Carbine Studios upcoming WildStar. The Chua join the Dominion, while the Mordesh join the Exiles, and we've got all the details on both past the break.

Carbine Speaks on Combat and Targeting

We managed to corral Hugh Shelton, Class Designer and Chris Lynch, Lead Combat Designer to talk about both combat and the targeting system that WildStar will feature. Why Movement Matters

In a recent video developer blog, Carbine Studios laid out an amusing but true video about how MMOs need to transcend the WASD keys. In an exclusive interview, we talked with Lead Combat Systems Designer Chris Lynch about how movement will matter in WildStar. Read on and then leave your ideas in the comments.

We managed to catch up to Chad Moore to talk about the Draken race that players will find in game. See what he had to say before heading to the comments.
