Sheriffs & Outlaws Gameplay Undergoing Revision

Sheriffs & Outlaws Gameplay Undergoing Revision -

Over the initial course of Wild West Online alpha testing, players discovered that the Sheriffs & Outlaws system was not going according to plan. Developers initially decided to remove it altogether, however, later determined that the system is a core component of any game taking place in the Old West. As a result, the Sheriffs & Outlaws system has been redesigned from the ground up.

There are several steps for players to become a Deputy and those who do will be easily identifiable by mousing over them to see "Deputy" displayed next to their name.

Outlaws who perform an unlawful action such as killing an opposite faction player will be identified as such. The length of the "Outlaw" designation depends on the severity of the crime.

Deputies in the area will be notified that Outlaws are present in the nearby environs, though anyone without Deputy status will not see the same thing. Deputies are allowed to restrain or kill Outlaws, though there is more work to be done in this regard. Killing an Outlaw rewards a Deputy Fame. The more Fame, the better discounts from vendors and clerks. Outlaws will also drop 3-4 randomly selected items from inventory.

This is still a work in progress and the team is inviting feedback. You can check out this Wild West Online forum thread to learn more.
