As Players Suspected, Warlords Awakening is Elite Lords of Alliance Back For Try #3
It appears that Elite Lords of Alliance is back under a new name with a new publisher, PlayWith. According to the Warlords Awakening FAQ on the game's Steam page, Playwith admits that it understands how skeptical players must be after the earlier two attempts...and subsequent shutdowns. The answer is, as you would expect, to throw shade at the previous publisher with aspersions cast at their handling of the game and that, this time, things will be different.
Here's the question and the response. Emphasized sections are by us.
Concern 1: This game seems to be a remake of ELOA. Why should we expect anything different from a game that has shut down? Answer 1: For a variety of reasons, we here at PLAYWITH believe that ELOA never got off on the right foot, and was unable to reach its full potential. We do not wish to ignore that fact. It was previously developed and published by another company and we feel as though it was never serviced properly. The previous iterations were lacking in their ability to properly provide localized service and there was a clear disconnect between the user’s feelings towards the game and how it was presented. ELOA’s user base had their qualms about the game, but they were a dedicated bunch and believed ELOA could have been much more than it achieved.
We believe that with the right approach, and the use of real user feedback, we can sustain the game that people have always wanted to play and bring new users to the game as well. Warlords Awakening is being remastered by PLAYWITH and serviced by our own publishing arm and network. This way, the servicing of the game should operate more smoothly and we can better communicate ideas directly to our developers. We intend to be flexible and responsive moving forward with the publication of Warlords Awakening on STEAM.
Another concern addressed would be whether this 3rd attempt to bring the game to life would be a pay 2 win effort or another cash grab. The answer is...unclear. "We would like to first and foremost state that is now our objective" the answer reads.
Finally, the third question wonders whether or not prepared content is being stripped out of the Early Access version in order to re-add it at a later date.
The game is in a playable state, but there are some kinks we would like to sort out before releasing it to the public. We ought to try our best to get it right the first time. Early Access give users access to early content, allows them to respond, and allows us to make changes based on that response. It is much easier for us to address general problems in early content and apply these notions to future content, so that when it is released, users are satisfied the first time.
