Warhammer 40,000: Eternal Crusade launched just a few weeks ago on the PC, and it’s been having a rough go from critics. That said, it has its hardcore faithful, and it’s clear Behaviour is keen on improving the game more and more in coming months. We caught up with Executive Producer Nathan Richardsson to discuss the state of the game, and what’s to come in the new few months.

Since last we spoke, Eternal Crusade has been early-released on Steam, to positive reviews from those who ventured into the early-release, and a lot of things have changed and grown since then.

Greetings fellow Crusaders, and welcome to this week's look at the development of Eternal Crusade, a Warhammer 40K-based massive multiplayer third-person shooter. This week we are going to talk about Senior Producer Nathan Richardsson's latest State of the Crusade post, some recent news revealed on the Eternal Crusade twitch show, and some of the more interesting conversations taking place on the Eternal Crusade forums.
As Terry wrote in his column yesterday, there’s a new sheriff in town with Eternal Crusade. Filling the large and vibrantly energetic shoes of Miguel Caron is Nathan Richardsson. From CCP, Trion, and Ubisoft with a pedigree in MMO gaming like few others, the new Senior Producer of the Warhammer 40K MMO chatted with Rob Lashley about the future of Eternal Crusade and his gaming past.
Lots of news on the Eternal Crusade front today, Behaviour has officially announced two partnerships, one with Razer and one with Alienware, as well as announcing a new spin on the Free to Play experience, with the new Pioneer Pack. Finally, two contests are running, to give the community members a chance at some pretty excellent prizes. I spoke with Miguel Caron, Studio Head, Online Games at Behaviour to get some more details on these announcements.
Meeting Miguel Caron was an absolute pleasure. Though I personally am not into Warhammer 40k, (it’s a bit too dark for my taste) I always take great pleasure in meeting developers who are passionate about the game they’re making and Miguel has enough passion to fuel an entire studio and then some. He was exciting to listen to and even though there wasn’t any hands-on time with the game we still left the meeting excited.
Tyranids. To the veteran Warhammer 40K player the name inspires chills down the spine, a combination of awe and trepidation; and why? The Tyranids are an alien race from beyond the known galaxy. They arrived in this galaxy in 745 M41, along the Eastern Fringes, and since then their dreaded Hive Fleets have infested planet after planet. Once these planets have been stripped of their bio-matter the invasive Hive moves on, leaving behind a despoiled husk, incapable of supporting life.
This past week we took a trip up to Behaviour Interactive to get an extremely early look at Warhammer 40,000: Eternal Crusade. Everything you are seeing on the site this week (videos are coming soon!) is literally pre-alpha gameplay footage. It is great that a studio like Behaviour is willing to show us this early gameplay footage. We got to play an early alpha build of the game and here is what we learned…it’s awesome! But you probably wanted more than that, so read on.
