Alarm klaxons are blaring loudly as you hear the Captain come in over the intercom, “all hands to battle stations!” You make your way to the bow of the ship, and ready your gun for firing solutions. You hear someone yell to get down as a plane buzzes close over your head. You hear anti-aircraft artillery fire behind you and watch as the plane bursts into a flaming fireball. This is our impressions of the new War Thunder 1.83 update, “Masters of the Sea.”
It's the sixth anniversary of Gaijin Entertainment's War Thunder. To celebrate, all players that score five wins in the Naval Battles mode will receive the Soviet Ya-5m. Anyone participating in just a single battle of any type will also earn the 6 Years of War Thunder decal. These items can be earned from today through November 6th.
War Thunder players can rumble into game to check out a series of Halloween events including the Aircraft event: Witch Hunt and the Ground event: Tank race on the dark path. Each yields emblems and other goodies.
War Thunder is now officially launched as a free-to-play XBox One title. In addition, players can now check into the game to see the new features added with the Masters of the Sea update. Naval Forces are now open to all players, complete with over 80 vessels representing three nations. In addition, helicopters bring a new dynamic to the game.

War Thunder has been updated with The Valkyries patch that brings combat helicopters into the game. Over a dozen aircraft from both the United States and Soviet Union have been added in this first pass at helicopters, with more to come in the future. Players will be able to participate "in combined arms battles with ground vehicles on all difficulty settings".
When the v1.81 update hits War Thunder, players will be able to zoom through the skies in combat helicopters. This first bunch of aircraft will be themed around the Korean War and the Cold War periods of history, with both American and Soviet helicopters being represented. Other nations' helicopters will be introduced "later".
The War Thunder team is challenging its players to a two-week event during which they will complete a variety of special tasks that yield blueprints and resources needed to construct a pair of tanks. Using the collected items, players can craft the medium T-34E and the super-heavy IS-7 tanks.
When the free to play version of War Thunder arrives on XBox One later this year, players will be able to opt into the crossplay network with PC, Linux and Mac users. The caveat is that any XB1 players with a pre-existing War Thunder account will need to create a new XBox-specific account.
War Thunder has been updated to bring "Project X" into the game that includes new vehicles, new maps and a new location on the Italian peninsula. In addition, aircraft and ground vehicle sounds have been completely reworked to provide a more realistic presentation.
When the v1.79 update arrives in War Thunder, players will have a new location to explore. Italy will provide players with a combined arms battle arena that is themed on the Reggio Calabria province. Players "will be fighting in and around a quiet Italian settlement" with roads, buildings and homes offering cover and dangerous terrain to explore.
From now through Victory Day on May 8th, War Thunder players can take part in a series of events called Chronicles of World War II that lets them "take part in more than 40 of the biggest military clashes of the 20th century". Along the way, players can earn four new premium vehicles in the American, British, French and Russian lines.
Gaijin Entertainment has great news for War Thunder fans. The company has set its sights on both the XBox One and the XBox One X with developers working hard to deliver its unique experience to couches around the world.
The War Thunder team has posted an extensive look at forthcoming changes to both battle rating and economy. Changes will be forthcoming for aircraft and ground vehicles. Devs have provided a table for reference as well as a graphic representation of how battle rating alterations will play out. Another table has been published to show reductions / increases in various economic systems.
When the next War Thunder update arrives, over thirty French aircraft will take flight including planes from the 1930s through today. Many of the planes in the French tree never were mass produced due to the constraints of occupation in WWII. The War Thunder team has spent over a year researching historic documents to ensure accuracy.
