Lots of news coming out of NetEase on its plans for Marvel Rivals lately. The publisher and developer revealed plans for a panel and hands-on opportunities for players at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, closed beta sign ups, and the announcement of Venom joining the game’s roster in a new trailer.
Players attending San Diego Comic-Con can take Marvel Rivals for a spin at the con’s Marvel booth and check out the Marvel Rivals: The Story, Art, and Sound of the Game panel at Ballroom 20 on July 25 at 11:15AM PDT.
Venom has also joined the Rivals roster as a Vanguard, or tank, character. These are his abilities:
Dark Predation - This allows Venom to unleash symbiote tendrils in front of him to assault his foes.
Frenzied Arrival – A mobility skill that enables Venom to leap to a target area, damaging and knocking enemies away.
Cellular Corrosion – Venom assails his enemies with symbiote tendrils inflicting them with Slow. Those unable to escape its effect in time will be damaged.
Symbiotic Resilience – Venom can grant himself bonus health with the amount granted increasing depending on how low his health is when activated.
Feast of the Abyss – Venom can burrow underground and erupt from within to damage enemies and generate bonus health.
Alien Biology – This allows Venom to crawl or even sprint along walls.
As for closed beta, NetEase is asking console players on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S to take a short questionnaire to sign up. PC players can sign up for the closed beta beginning on July 20. The console closed beta will kick off on July 23 at 3PM PDT. No information is currently available on PC dates or start times.
