Hearthstone Lead System Designer Kris Zierhut has taken to the airwaves to reveal a number of changes coming to the Arena system that will be coming in a future update. In the current system, player choose from a presented number of cards on each "pick". Players and developers felt that the choices were not as meaningful as they would like, hence the changes.
There are four major alterations coming to the current Arena Mode:
- Each 'pick' will feature three cards of equal power, but different rarities. This allows for more meaningful choices and a chance to customize a preferred deck
- Legendaries when presented will all have approximately equal power level
- Picks 1, 10, 20 and 30 will have a guaranteed Rare to choose
- the chance to see cards of below-average value will be decreased
In addition, v10.4 will include nine class cards that are specifically and only for Arena Mode. "Whether the goal is to choose cards for a particular synergy, strategy or playstyle, we believe these changes will give players the ability to take ownership of their Arena decks."
