NetherRealm Studios have announced the release date for Takeda, the next in line DLC character to join the Mortal Kombat 1 roster as part of its first Kombat Pack. Ferra, of the Ferra & Torr pair from Mortal Kombat X, is also coming to MK1 as a Kameo, but was delayed from its original June release.
Takeda and Ferra will now launch on July 23, finishing out the cast of the game’s first Kombat Pack. That pack includes Jean Claude Van Damme as Johnny Cage as well as six distinct playable characters in Omni-Man from Invincible, Quan Chi, DC’s Peacemaker, Ermac, The Boys’ Homelander, and now, Takeda. Kameo characters included are Ferra, Janet Cage, Khameleon, Mavado, and Tremor.
Takeda Takahashi originally appeared in Mortal Kombat X as the son of Kenshi, but returns as Kenshi’s cousin in Mortal Kombat 1. The game’s timeline shenanigans allow for this sort of thing, so it’s not a big deal, but it is a change.
Takeda, like Kenshi, fights using the Shirai Ryu fighting style and brings a pair of bladed whip to bear in combat. He can fling shurikens at his foes, assail them with fiery teleportation attacks, and more.
EVO attendees can get first hands on with both Takeda and Ferra this weekend.
