Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake is Real, Releasing on PS5 and PC

Well, it’s official. Knights of the Old Republic Remake is real and it’s hitting PS5 and PC.

The remake efforts are being led by Aspyr Media in collaboration with LucasFilm Games. It doesn’t appear BioWare are involved. If you’re not familiar with KOTOR, the story is set 4000 years prior to the events of the original trilogy. The story features new characters and is honestly one of the best RPGs made to date.

As the PlayStation Blog notes,

“We’re rebuilding one of the greatest RPGs of all time for a new generation with modern tech, features, visuals and more, while maintaining the integrity of the story and characters that we’ve come to cherish.”

While KOTOR Remake is hitting the PC, it will be a PS5 console exclusive at launch. This more or less implies it will release on other platforms. However, we don’t know what these platforms are, nor do we know how long that exclusivity window is for Sony’s console.

There is no date yet for KOTOR Remake as the game is still in early development. You can check out the full blog post here, and check out the trailer above.
