In a surprising turn of events, Motiga’s short-lived MOBA hero shooter, Gigantic, is set to return this spring, five years after being shut down in 2018.
Gigantic was well received during its original launch in 2017, but it didn’t attract enough players to continue development. In January 2018, Motiga deployed Gigantic’s final update and announced the game would shut down in July.
It’s not often that previously shut down games come back from the dead, but as unlikely as it may be, Gigantic will return on April 9 as Gigantic: Rampage Edition. This time it’s being sold as a paid game (the original release was free-to-play) and in addition to launching on multiple platforms (PS4 and PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC) Gigantic: Rampage Edition will add new features such as crossplay across all platforms, a new ranked system (coming post-launch), quality-of-life updates, as well as previously unreleased content that Motiga never had the opportunity to add to the game during its live service.
That new content includes both new characters as well as new maps. Two new characters Roland and Kajir will join the roster, bringing the total cast to 25. New maps Picaro Bay and Heaven’s Ward will also be included in the package.
