Marvel Rivals Adds Ultron, New Maps, And Team-Up Skill Tweaks With Upcoming Season 2.5 Release

Marvel Rivals is adding a new hero to its already impressive roster, while a new map and tweaks to team-up skills are on the docket for Season 2.5, coming May 30th.

Ultron is the latest Marvel character to grace the Rivals roster, bringing another Strategist to the fray.  Ultron can fly, giving him some unique mobility among the Strategist hero-type. Ultron is also packing drones, which can heal allies, while his primary attack fires off a straight beam of energy that can damage foes. You can check out Ultron in action as he aims to wipe out all life on Earth in the trailer below.

Season 2.5 also brings with it massive tweaks to how team-up abilities work, with the NetEase team bringing six new abilities to the hero shooter, while removing four team-ups from the game. One of the new team-ups is also directly influenced by fan feedback: we're getting the Jeffnado, which sees Jeff the Land Shark and Storm team-up ability.

Arakko is the next map coming to Marvel Rivals, and in addition to this new map players will also seea new experimental mode added, though it'll be coming about a week after launch. Ultron's Battle Matrix Protocol is launching June 6th. Via today's press release:

"In this mode, six players can choose their own hero lineups, craft unique builds, and enhance their heroes' traits. Then, engage in battle against other players for the chance to claim victory. This mode is an experiment for how the development team can attempt to fulfill players’ fantasies of Marvel Super Heroes and Super Villains. Players can take control of a wider array of characters and amplify their stats and abilities."
