Just shy of a month ago, Guild Wars 2 released their third expansion, End of Dragons. One of the many significant parts of expansions is always the new soundtrack that arrives alongside it, and EoD is no exception on this front. At two hours and twenty minutes in length, the EoD soundtrack is the longest one released with any of the previous expansions. It also has the widest variety of music, and yet it all fits together in a beautiful treat for your ears.
Last week I had the opportunity to speak with Maclaine Diemer about the process of writing music for a GW2 expansion and what it’s like to work with various collaborators on that. We also delved a bit into the experience of recording the music with a live orchestra and how that’s changed over the last few years. Join us as we delve a bit deeper into all the various topics regarding how Diemer started writing music for GW2 and even into some more personal aspects of his life.
