Hawaii's Chris Lee is back with a new five-minute video simply titled "Time to Step Up". In it, he urges people to "take five minutes" to contact elected officials to urge them to look into "taking action to protect local families and particularly underage youth" from what he calls "predatory gaming practices". He offers viewers a template for contacting their representatives.
At this time, Lee is working on crafting an idea into "actual legal language" in order to bring it before Hawaii's House of Representatives. He is currently working on two bills, one of which would:
- Prohibit the sale of video games that have gambling mechanisms in them to minors, anyone under the age of 21.
Lee reveals that legislators from other states across the US have been reaching out to him and he is working with them to address these issues in their own states.
Lee also addresses the recent revelation that Activision had patented an algorithm designed to encourage more microtransaction purchases. He calls it "absolutely unethical".
