Today, ArenaNet announced the release date for their next major expansion, End of Dragons. You can get your hands on the next adventure in February 2022. We’ve got the details.
If you recall, End of Dragons was actually delayed out of 2021 and into 2022. When the delay was announced, we weren’t sure when we’d expect to play the next expansion. ArenaNet cited “real world challenges” in their announcement,
“As expansion development has progressed and the real-world challenges of the past year and a half have changed the way we live and work, it’s become clear that we need a little more time to deliver our creative vision for Cantha. As a result, we’re delaying the release of Guild Wars 2: End of Dragons from late 2021 to early 2022."
Now, however, we have a release date. Well, we have a release month. The exact day hasn’t yet been announced. When it launches in February, you can look forward to a brand new story in Cantha where you’ll rediscover this hidden land.
Studio Directo Colin Johansen noted in the press release,
“We’re incredibly excited to bring players back to the realm of Cantha for the first time in 15 years. End of Dragons represents the realization of the entire development team’s passion for Guild Wars 2, and our continued commitment to creating quality content for players old and new.”
New additions include skiffs, a new watercraft of sorts. Additionally, look forward to a new set of Masteries and new Legendary Weapons which have taken inspiration from Elder Dragon Aurene.
If you’re raring to go, you can actually preorder End of Dragons on the site for $29.99. The preorder will net you a bundle of pre-purchase bonus items, including a Flame Serpent Weapon Chest, a Shing Jea Mosaic Cape, a special Prodigy of Shing Jea character Title, a shared inventory slot, and a level 80 character boost.
There’s also a Deluxe Edition for $54.99 which includes the standard edition bundle, plus a Shing Jea Dragon Boat Skiff skin, a Canthan Raptor mount skin, an additional character slot, and an Identity Repair Kit.
If you like physical Guild Wars 2 collectibles, you can grab a special edition premium statue of the Elder Dragon Aurene. The statue stands 8-by-10 inches and features a translucent crystalline sculpt of Aurene in her regal Eye of the North pose. These will only be available for preorder from the Guild Wars 2 web site between July 27 and August 20 priced at $120 plus tax and shipping.
Elsewhere, The Head of the Snake was the featured Living World Story, while a recent update dropped the Legendary Armory.
