Bungie's Sandbox Design Lead Josh Hamrick is the 'star' of the latest Destiny 2 developer commentary video. In this edition, Hamrick discusses today's "Go Fast Update". This update is being provided based on player feedback saying that competitive multiplayer has felt slow and unexciting. All aspects have been examined, including player movement, how supers come back and taking a look at weapon balance.
The team identified a number of weapons that are considered "hot". Rather than nerf them, however, Bungie wanted to bring everything else up to equal its power. The idea is to allow players to have high damage and make kills come at a faster rate.
"We've learned not to sand the coolness down, leave the jagged spikes of personality in there. We're taking a risk, but it's not like we haven't introduced obnoxious bugs into the game before doing the other approach. What's the worst that could happen?"
