1988 JRPG Dragon Quest 3 is getting an HD 2D remake and it looks gorgeous. Square Enix recently announced the Octopath Traveler styled approach to the remake recently and the remake is set not only to massively upgrade the game’s visuals but also expand its story.
Revealed in a preview over at RPG Site, series creator Yuji Horii and remake producer Masaaki Hayasaka reportedly stated that the remake would feature “additional story scenarios.” It’s hard to say what we might see in those new scenarios, but some more recent remakes, such as Square Enix’s Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Rebirth, have shown us how things might materialize. New cutscenes, side quests, and more are all possibilities.
The game is available in two editions: Standard Edition and Collector’s Edition. The Standard Edition retails for $60. The Collector’s Edition will set you back $200 and is available exclusively on the Square Enix online store. For your money, you’ll get a collectible game case storage box, a character and monster acrylic blocks complete set, the Adventurous Accessor Kit (in-game items), and two exclusive digital wallpapers for PC.
Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D will release on the Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC on November 14.
