Conan Exiles' latest major update, Age of War, dropped its first chapter today, as well as bringing a free week to entice potential players to jump into the update.
The new update brings a new threat from the Stygian Empire to the Exiled Lands, as well as many quality-of-life updates such as improvements to stamina and combat mechanics. Clan emblems are also added with the Chapter 1 update today, allowing clan members to show their pride on shields and more. A new crafting station has been added to customize clan icons to find that perfect image to strike fear into the heart of enemies.
Combat has also seen a rebalance, with the team at Funcom stating it's been improved with feedback from the community. Some of the changes include adjusting damage output for axes, Katanas, heavy attacks and more. Heavy attacks are now more devastating, with them always adding status effects such as a bleed or sunder, though these won't apply if you're sprinting when you ready the heavy attack. This is all in conjunction with the stamina balance changes, with weapon stamina cost being reduced across the board.

You can check out the full patch notes on the official website. And for those looking to get into Conan Exiles for the first time, the team is running a free week across the various platforms, with the survival-themed game free-to-play from today through the 29th on PC, while Xbox players will see that free play week shortened to the 22nd through the 25th. As of right now there doesn't seem to be a free week for PlayStation users, though all platforms are also selling Conan Exiles and all its previous expansions for up to 60% off now.
