Bethesda Game Studios kicked off the Xbox + Bethesda Showcase today by giving a glimpse into what its upcoming new IP, Starfield, looks like. And, it finally confirmed a release date: November 11, 2022.
Starfield is a game that BGS head Todd Howard states is 25 years in the making, heralding the first time Bethesda has made a new IP in that time. The release date announcement might make some smile as well, as it's slated for the same month and day as another Bethesda game that ended up being a cultural hit: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
Alongside the release date, we saw official confirmation of a piece of info reported in May: Starfield is an Xbox console exclusive. Coming to Windows 10 PC and Xbox Series S|X, Bethesda's new game will not grace Sony's platform.
You can check out the full teaser trailer. showing off "in-engine" footage of the Creation Engine 2 in the embed above. Note, though, as always, in-engine doesn't mean gameplay, but it's still a good barometer for what Starfield will eventually look like next November.
