Progress Video Released to Celebrate Successful Funding

Forged Chaos is celebrating the successful funding of Trials of Ascension by releasing a new video that shines the spotlight on all the things the team has been working on during the funding phase including the combat system, in-game item persistence and much more.

  • Dynamic Spawning – The Forged Chaos team shows off their GM dynamic spawning system, which allows their Game Masters to change the spawning of flora, fauna, and items within TerVarus in real-time. It allows for an incredibly natural growth pattern, and it gives the team numerous possibilities when it comes to making TerVarus a living, breathing world for the players of Trials of Ascension.

  • Resource Gathering – During their network test that consisted of over 20 players and the Trials of Ascension team, Forged Chaos gives viewers their first view at resource gathering within Trials of Ascension. The game boasts a resource collection system which encourages players to work together, instead of competition against each other for the limited resources of the land.

  • Item Persistence In World – The players of Trials of Ascension demonstrated that item persistence within the world of TerVarus now exists! If players drop an item on the ground, other players are now able to pickup and interact with that item. So, for instance, if a player is lumberjacking within a forest, and their stacking their planks while they deforest the world, another player could pickup the planks and start to use them to construction a building – or steal them for their own use. It is important to note that while the video only demonstrated this with lumber, the system also works with swords, shields, and all other items within Trials of Ascension.

  • Combat - Forged Chaos shows off the continuous improvements being made to their combat system. The team has switched to full-body animations that introduce a much more powerful combat feel. This also introduces more tactical options as you can no longer swing while running. All this was based on feedback by their testers, and the team will continue to make changes based of feedback to make combat feel more natural and responsive.

  • Chat and the Naming System – The Forged Chaos team hints at their naming system and shows off their newly implemented chat system. If a player hasn’t named another player, they will show up as ??? in chat. This leads to many exciting roleplay opportunities, and also allows Forged Chaos to do many exciting things with their Naming System (more details to follow in the coming months!)
