I live just outside of New York City. I grew up here. As a kid, and still to this day, one of my all time favorite movies is Escape From New York. No one can deny the idea of a post apocalyptic city as being immensely fun in a game world. Ubisoft’s The Division brings a post pandemic New York City into your living room and puts you right in the action as part of the team sent in to liberate New York and take the city back after the deadly virus.

Inexplicably beginning with a cheery holiday tune, Ubisoft has released a five minute long trailer for Tom Clancy's The Division that shows off some pretty sweet game play footage. Check it out and let us know what you think!

The Division is now officially confirmed for a 2015 release rather than the hoped-for 2014 release. According to a letter posted on the game's site, the team did not want to "compromise quality" and opted for 2015.

Tom Clancy's original development studio, Red Storm, has been announced as a development partner in The Division. Red Storm is the original development house for the original Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon games and will be assisting Massive by, among other things, creating the artwork for the the game's arsenal.

Tom Clancy's The Division is being developed by a pair of Ubisoft subsidiary studios that have teamed up. Both Ubisoft Massive and Ubisoft Reflections are working on the game, each studio with its own set of directives. For instance, Reflections is working on game systems including main NPCs, the city of Manhattan, and portions of the online feature system.

During Gamescom 2013, Tom Clancy's The Division announced a revolutionary companion feature that will allow mobile players to join their online pals as a drone to keep the party whole. "Introducing the simultaneous, asymmetric, revolutionary companion application of Tom Clancy's The Division. Join your team of friends in the game as a drone, from a smartphone or tablet, anytime and anywhere."

You asked, loudly, and Ubisoft listened. Today at Gamescom, and on their official blog the publisher confirmed that Tom Clancy's The Division will be coming to the PC.
