The Division 2 Articles
Steven had the chance to go hands on at Ubisoft's The Division 2: Warlords of New York expansion recently. Here are his thoughts on the expansion as it's shaping up right now.
Capitalizing on the momentum of a successful launch, Ubisoft isn’t wasting any time improving the game and adding new content to The Division 2. Yesterday’s live streamed State of the Game detailed updates coming today and announced that the game’s first content update will release next week. Let’s recap.
As a final prelude to the inevitable launch next week, Ubisoft led this past weekends’ Open Beta as an unexpected love letter to Division players. Despite maintaining a fairly limited scope that falls in line with what we saw in the Private Beta, Ubisoft proved that they are all ears when it comes to making concessions on their original design to make their players happy. The long journey from New York to Washington D.C. has almost finished, but is the Open Beta enough to curtail fears of a problematic launch?
From my initial gameplay impressions, through my interview with Keith Evans, and on to the end of the private beta test, I’ve had the opportunity to play The Division 2 more than most. After sufficient time in the very early game and more rounds in the Black Tusks invaded mission than anyone would realistically want to play, especially knowing that they wouldn’t keep any of the loot on launch, there’s no doubt that The Division 2 has improved over The Division 1, but is it enough to justify a purchase for players that are on the fence?
The Division 2 and its nearly 50 hours of game play is only the beginning. players should expect invasion missions, strongholds, occupied guard zones, roaming caravans of enemies, a living world system, specializations, 8-person raids, and a special end-game-only faction called the Black Tusks, which will surely create problems as they permeate the living world and the accompanying end game missions.
Last month, Ubisoft flew us down to the Red Storm offices in Cary, North Carolina for a sneak peek at The Division 2. We went hands-on with the game’s new PVP gameplay and are here with a first look of the game in action and our thoughts on the changes. You won’t want to miss it.
