Better Communication on the Docket for Improvement

Better Communication on the Docket for Improvement - TERA - MMORPG.com

TERA's Senior Producer Matthew Denomme has taken to the official forums to apologize for strident community reaction to the latest producer's letter that informed players that the next content update was being delayed until March, a significant gap between December's Brawler update and the next release.

Denomme apologizes to the community and admits that communication between En Masse and the playerbase has been lacking.

He writes, "Going forward, this is something we really need to improve. This includes keeping the community more directly in the loop regarding what we're working and when content is coming. It also means being less vague and generic, as we were in yesterday's letter. I feel if we can do this better, at the very least you can gain a better understanding of how and why things are happening."

By way of explanation beyond apologizing for poor communication, Denomme talks about the fact that builds are structured by developer Bluehole, delivered to En Masse that prepares them for release. Among other things, EME tackles localization, verification, patching and other tasks prior to releasing updates.

Bluehole further delivered a build that has content from several versions of the game, something of concern to EME as content within would have a significant impact on gear progression. Because of the issues raised by EME, Bluehole is internally reorganizing in an effort to provide publishers with better communication.

You can read the Producer's Letter and the subsequent response on the TERA forums.
