Halo Infinite's December mid-season update is now live and it's got fans excited for the return of the classic Firefight PvE mode, though it's back with some changes.

One of the quintessential Halo experiences is campaign co-op, which is why it was such a shame that Halo Infinite launched without it. However, many players have been eager to test it out this week when it's released to Halo Insiders. Halo's Community Manager Brian Jarrad assured fans that it's still coming this week, though because of the nature of how flighting a test build works, it's "day by day."

One of the defining features of any Halo game has been its co-op, whether it's PvP or the ability to blast through a campaign with a friend. However, Halo Infinite, the most recent title in the franchise, launched without campaign co-op. Now 343 Industries seems set to finally bring it to the game.

During today's Xbox 20th Anniversary stream, the team at Microsoft reminisced on some of the things that have made the console special over the last 20 years. Inarguably, the staying power of the console can be attributed largely to the legendary Halo series, something not lost on Microsoft today. To celebrate the milestone, the team at 343 Industries have launched the multiplayer portion of Halo Infinite today, with the campaign still to come on December 8th.

Halo Infinite finally has an official release date. As announced during Geoff Keighley's Gamescom Opening Night Live, the next iteration in the Halo franchise will be hitting Xbox and PC this year, coming Devember 8th.

Halo Infinite is set to launch later this year on Xbox consoles and PC, though it will be doing so without one of its key features: multiplayer campaign co-op.
