Styx - Master of Shadows

Styx: Master of Shadows is a stealth RPG infiltration game from Cyanide Studio. The protagonist of the game is Styx, the goblin assassin from 2012's Of Orcs and Men. This is a prequel to that game, and follows Styx as he tries to climb the Tower of Akenash. But this must be done with the utmost care. Missions that take you up the tower might end in plunder and murder, but there must be no trace of what you've done.

The vertically-inclined game will see Styx go from level to level, with multiple approaches to complete each objective. With an emphasis on both stealth and careful, measured decisions. As Styx, you are cunning and a powerful blade, but small and vulnerable. You'll be able to customize and upgrade Styx' skills to help face the huans, Elves, Orcs, and more ahead.

  • Styx Returns | This prequel to Of Orcs and Men brings back its popular Goblin assassin, Styx. Leading up his own adventure, players control him in a quest to climb the Tower of Akenash.
  • Complete Objectives Your Way | The open system promises an emphasis on stealth and avoiding detection, but with multiple ways to complete objectives according to player style and choices.
  • RPG Style Leveling System | Styx can learn and be customized via an RPG style system of skill and talent trees, including weapon skills to advance your arsenal. Styx can learn new skills and abilities, including some rather tricky ones.

Master of Shadows, But Jack of Everything Else

Master of Shadows, But Jack of Everything Else - Styx - Master of Shadows News

Styx: Master of Shadows is the brand new Stealth RPG from Cyanide Studios set in the same world as 2012's Of Orcs and Men, though taking place long before the story of that game. You play the titular role of Styx, an expert goblin thief as he tries to break into the deepest parts of the heavily guarded human tower of Akenash and steal the heart of the World-Tree. Styx is definitely a master of stealth, but is the rest of the game up to such lofty titles? Read on for our full review.

Who Doesn't Want to Play a Goblin?

Who Doesn't Want to Play a Goblin? - Styx - Master of Shadows News

One of the best things about going to game conventions is seeing games that really surprise you. For the second time in a row Styx, Master of Shadows has done just that. If you are a fan of stealth style RPGs where charging in is not recommended, then you will love Styx. The goblin that hides, poisons water by puking, and cuts foes down with leaping death from the rafters has shown us two solid demos now. We can only wait until the game launches later this year.
