Reverts to Cheyenne Mountain

According to a report from the East Valley (AZ) Tribune, property control for Stargate Worlds and Stargate Resistance has been returned to developer Cheyenne Mountain. Sadly, time has probably run out for Cheyenne Mountain to be able to get Stargate Worlds out the door. MGM has terminated the license originally issued in 2006 that granted Cheyenne Mountain the use of the intellectual property from the TV shows.

Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment Enters Receivership

Continuing the arduous Stargate Worlds saga, Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment has announced that they have entered receivership. As part of the receivership CME has sold off all its assets (including Stargate Resistance) to a company rather appropriately named Fresh Start, which was started up by former Cheyenne employees.

Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment Files for Bankruptcy

Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment, the folks behind the oft-troubled Stargate Worlds, as well as the recently released shooter Stargate Resistance, have filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. This information has been confirmed through the Clerk of Superior Court's Office of Maricopa County, Arizona.

Stargate Resistance Announced; Worlds Still Coming

In a move sure to surprise a few fans out there, Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment today announced a new third person shooter based in the Stargate Universe called "Stargate Resistance". The new shooter is set to launch in Q1 2010, and will be available exclusively for the PC platform.

Five New Screenshots

Five new screenshots of Stargate Worlds have surfaced on the official Stargate Worlds website. The screenshots depict a number of new armor and weapons for the Goa'uld, Jaffa, Soldier, and Scientist.

Site Returns, Funding Issues Persist

On Friday, October 9th, the Stargate Worlds official website went down for scheduled maintenance, which was expected to take about a day, it didn't. There is good news and bad news. The good news is the site returned 3 days later on the 12th, the bad news is that Stargate Worlds is continuing to experience funding issues, despite the fact they have secured additional investors. Timothy N. Jenson, President & CEO of Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment offered an illuminating statement to Massively.

Stargate Gains New Funding

Things are actually very good here right now. We received some funding commitments that will provide financing over time and allow us to move forward with development and start catching up on our past due financial obligations, including some back payroll that we paid last week.

According to sources, MGM may pull the license from Firesky's troubled Stargate Worlds MMO if no investment is secured by August 1st. The company, though, has one last chance at survival.
