Devaronian
The Devaronian are a truly devilish race, and we mean that literally! Devaronians hail from the world of Devaron, and feature distinctly different appearances between both sexes. Male Devaronians are especially devil-looking, possessing a crown of devil-like horns, red skin, and a mouth full of sharp teeth. Female Devaronians on the other hand are covered almost entirely in fur and were generally non-aggressive, a stark contrast to their exceptionally aggressive male counterparts.
Why we like them: From the first sighting of Labria’s razor sharp grin in the Mos Eisley cantina in A New Hope, I’ve always wanted to have a Devaronian of my own. Unfortunately, the closest I could come to that was playing the Labria card in the Star Wars Galaxies Trading Card Game. It’s hard to say whether or not Devaronians would make great Imperial Spies or Smugglers as the aforementioned Labria was one of the worst spies in Mos Eisley, though another Devaronian,Vilmar Grahrk, was an infamous smuggler.
Likelihood of making it in: Quite possible. Devaronians, like the Defel, have the distinct advantage of appearing in the original films, but have also made appearances in Knights of the Old Republic II and the Knights of the Old Republic comic series. While the Mos Eisley cantina featured a smorgasbord of aliens, even the most casual Star Wars fans would recognize Labria by face.
Duros
From the planet Duro, the Duros were one of the first space faring species in the galaxy and often served as pilots and explorers, it’s even believed they may have been the first to develop the first hyperspace capable spacecraft. Star Wars: The Old Republic is set roughly 300 years after a particularly horrid time for the Duros species as well, in 3,962 BBY (The Old Republic is set around 3,653 BBY) the Mandalorians nearly wiped out the entire planet of Duro as part of an invasion of the Core worlds.
Why we like them: While we have no clue what role space will have in the The Old Republic, it would be nice to have a race so associated with the stars. They’ve also likely got a bone to pick with the Mandalorians, who’ve thrown their hats in with the Sith Empire, making for a great grudge match!
Likelihood of making it in: Certainly possible. While they don’t particularly fit with any of the classes in the game, the Duros were one of the founding races of the Galactic Republic and have many appearances in both the Expanded Universe and the original trilogy. Duros were even featured in the Knights of the Old Republic games and comics.
Falleen
The Falleen are an exotic reptilian species from the planet Falleen, who are considered by many to be some of the most beautiful species in the galaxy. They are slightly scaled, and have the ability to alter the pigmentation of their skin from green to red at will. They are also able to emit pheromones, which can come in quite handy when dealing with the opposite sex. The most prominent member of the Falleen species in the Expanded Universe is Prince Xizor, leader of the infamous Black Sun, whose influence in the galaxy was so far reaching it was second only to the Emperor and Darth Vader.
Why we like them: Prince Xizor. ‘Nuff said. For anyone who has read the Shadows of the Empire novels, the subtle and cerebral battle between Darth Vader and Xizor (who harbors a serious grudge against the Empire for essentially committing genocide on his home planet), was a real thrill to read. One could argue that Xizor is second only to Thrawn as far as being one of the Expanded Universe’s most awesome characters.
Falleen also alter their pigmentation naturally to show their mood, kind of like a mood ring, which would be amusing to view in the game’s various dialogue cutscenes. As Falleen are also able to manipulate and alter their pigmentation at will, many often did this purposefully to manipulate others’ perception of their mood, which could be an interesting dialogue option. Sure, they don’t offer much in practical combat gameplay, but they would be an interesting addition nonetheless.
Likelihood of making it in: Possible. Many Star Wars fans are familiar with the Falleen race due to Xizor, and the Falleen have many appearances in the Expanded Universe, including the Knights of the Old Republic comics
