A Missed Opportunity at Celebration

This past weekend saw the advent of Star Wars Celebration, the Star Wars version of BlizzCon or SOE Live, only bigger and let's be fair, better. Hosted in the same venue as BlizzCon in Anaheim, CA, SWCA featured more stormtroopers than you could shake a Jawa at, Star Wars celebrities ranging from Mark 'Luke Skywalker' Hamill to Anthony 'These aren't the droids we're looking for' Forrest.


Fallen Empire - First Image Revealed

Bioware teased an expansion at the recent Star Wars: The Old Republic Cantina Tour stop in Anaheim, California. Today, the first image from "Fallen Empire" has been revealed possibly heralding an official announcement of an expansion.


Bioware Star Wars Games Not Canon

Kotaku is reporting that Disney has admitted that all of Bioware's Star Wars games fall outside of the official canon for the intellectual property. Anything that is considered the 'extended universe' is now non-canonical to the overall Star Wars story. Disney had announced several months back that most novels, comics, and video games would be considered part of the unofficial, unvisited part of Star Wars.

Fulfilling their promise to make up the canceled Boston Cantina Tour stop with a livestream on Twitch, BioWare Austin's team presented a rather meaty event that promises better, more fan-satisfying events in the future. In this one, jokingly referred to as the (B)Austin Cantina Tour, they went over many of the details of Game Update 3.2.


Balance Threads, v3.2 PTS Notes & Outfit Designer Posts

Bioware has posted a series of forum threads for specific classes in Star Wars: The Old Republic. The threads are the beginning phases of class balancing throughout the game and are an effort on behalf of the development team to keep its thoughts on balance in the public eye. In addition, the PTS notes for v3.2 have been posted, as well as a short introduction to the Outfit Designer.

Cancelled: ESL Operation Victory Competition

The ESL Operation Victory competition has been cancelled according to a new post on the Star Wars: The Old Republic site. The contest was designed for teams of players to race through operations in an effort to submit the best time to Bioware. However, issues cropped up in the Coratanni encounter that produced issues for those attempting to move through quickly. While tomorrow's patch will address some of the issues, the team felt that others remained.


The Outfit Designer Won't Save Crafting

In the recent Producer's Roadmap, Bruce Maclean dropped the news we'd known about for awhile, Star Wars: the Old Republic would have some kind of Outfit Designer. Coming in the spring with Game Update 3.2, it's supposed to be an 'awesome new feature'. Let's speculate as to how this new feature will work and how it will integrate with the existing crafting system.


Operation Victory Tournament Announced

Bioware has partnered with ESL to announce a brand new tournament called Operation Victory. Teams of eight will be challenged to complete a story mode operation from Shadow of Revan as quickly as possible. Teams will have two weeks in which to complete the run and submit the time to Bioware. The fastest teams will advance to the finals to compete for both in-game and real world swag.


Boston Community Cantina Cancelled

Because of freezing weather in Boston, the Star Wars: The Old Republic Community Cantina event has been cancelled.
