Star Wars: The Old Republic Articles

Having spent more time with the Knights of the Eternal Throne expansion for Star Wars: The Old Republic, I’ve gotten a better idea for the hot (and not so hot) aspects of the expansion. Read on for our look at both.

Bioware and EA have announced that the latest expansion to Star Wars: The Old Republic has launched for all players. New and Veteran players join Premium players in a quest to become the leader of the known galaxy. Players will face difficult choices in order to get the throne and to keep it.

You know things are going well when you have to force yourself to put the game down to make a deadline. Back when I wrote my impressions of Knights of the Fallen Empire, I commented that the expansion “starts off with a bang and just doesn't let go.” and the same is true for Knights of the Eternal Throne.

The Star Wars: The Old Republic forum has an interesting thread with regard to the revelation that achievements from the recent Dark vs Light event have been wiped with today's head start for Knights of the Eternal Throne DLC. According to a post by Community Manager Eric Musco, however, players can be reassured that all event rewards will be sent out on Friday as expected.

Star Wars: The Old Republic has been giving fans the chance to play out their own personal experiences in a galaxy far, far away for five years. But many fans have wondered where their paths were leading them and how they fit into the grand scheme of BioWare’s MMO.

As the time for the release of the Star Wars: The Old Republic expansion, Knights of the Eternal Throne, the dev team is taking time to let players in on changes coming to classes. Bioware developers were on hand during last week's Star Wars: The Old Republic livestream event in which they discussed a variety of topics related to Knights of the Eternal Throne expansion set to be released in December. Among other things the team spent time discussing Repeatable Chapters, Challenge Modes and Veteran Difficulty.

I often think about how I’d love to play SWTOR – only re-imagined with the new landscape of MMOs in mind. But things like action combat or even a smaller set of active abilities probably aren’t going to ever happen for SWTOR, so where does that leave things for the future of Star Wars and online games?

The Star Wars: The Old Republic site has been updated with a recent post to summarize how players will be able to craft gear to catch up to friends, gear up alts or off-specs in preparation for Eternal Throne. To do so, there is a new crafting material that will allow the creation of gear that falls within two item rating of the best gear for any particular tier, though without the ability to shift mods and without set bonus as well.

Star Wars: The Old Republic gets its 4th expansion this December with Knights of the Eternal Throne. The expansion will continue the story of the current expansion, Knights of the Fallen Empire, bump the level cap up to 70, and more. Any new expansion is a great time to come back to your favorite MMO, but we think Eternal Throne makes a particularly good case for a return to Star Wars: The Old Republic.

The Star Wars: The Old Republic site has been updated with a new developer blog that discusses Dark vs Light as it will appear in Knights of the Eternal Throne. In the new Galactic Command system, players will have a direct impact on the eternal war raging between Dark and Light users of the Force.

BioWare’s latest live stream event detailed the new Galactic Command system coming to Star Wars: The Old Republic with the release of the Knights of the Eternal Throne expansion this December. The structural changes made to gear progression with this system are set to have a far-reaching impact on the game, and the community isn’t exactly too happy about it.

According to the post, Galactic Command is a new progression system for Premium players at level 70. Essentially, everything in the game universe is collected into a single interface that can then be used to que for missions, story chapters, flashpoints, operations, PvP warzones, Galactic Strfighter complete with difficulty level.

It took longer than expected, but BioWare Austin finally unveiled SWTOR’s next expansion, Knights of the Eternal Throne, at this year’s New York Comic Con Cantina event. Keep in mind that there will be spoilers for the current expansion ahead, so you’ve been warned if you haven’t wrapped Knights of the Fallen Empire up yet.
