Nar Shaddaa Nightlife Event Heats Up the Summer of SWTOR

The Summer of Star Wars: The Old Republic has officially begun thanks to the arrival of Game Update 5.2.2. To get things heating up, the Nar Shaddaa Nightlife event is now live and set to run through August. During the event, players can head to the casinos to earn Golden Certificates that can be used for a number of items including armor, mounts, weapons, pets and customizations.


Roadmap 2017 Published - Sets Goals for the Year

The Star Wars: The Old Republic site has been updated with a roadmap for the balance of 2017. In it, the team speaks about its goals for the remainder of the year.


Celebrate May 4th with Log In Event - Pet & Double XP

In celebration of Star Wars Day on May 4th, Bioware is unleashing a special log in event. Players entering the game from May 4th through May 8th will be rewarded with an M4-Y6 Astromech mini-pet. In addition, from May 4th to May 14th, a special Double XP event will be in Force (see what I did there?).


Update 5.2 'Iokath' to Launch Today, Patch Note Published

The patch notes for Star Wars: The Old Republic game update v5.2 The War of Iokath have been published on the official site. The patch is expected to launch later today with new content. On the narrative side, a pair of old companions will return: the Sith Warrior companion Malavai Quinn and the Republic Trooper companion Elara Dorne. In addition, a new operation called Gods from the Machine will open as well as the brand new Galaxy Map.


Keith Kanneg Takes over as Game Producer

Star Wars: The Old Republic has had a changing of the guard. Now-former Game Producer Ben Irving has moved on to another BioWare project with Keith Kanneg taking over the role from now on. Kanneg was formerly the Director of Live Services for SWTOR, so he is familiar with the inner workings of the team.


War for Iokath Delayed to April 18th to Address Issues

The Star Wars: The Old Republic site has been updated with the news that The War for Iokath has been delayed until April 18th. BioWare's Eric Musco wrote that the team is not currently satisfied with its overall quality and that they will be spending the next week making improvements to address the issues that are still present.


The War for Iokath Coming April 11th

The Star Wars: The Old Republic site has been updated with news that v5.2: "The War for Iokath" will be ready to go on April 11th. As the Republic and Empire start going at it again, it's up to the Outlander to decide where to throw their might. There is a new storyline, the new planet of Iokath and a new operation. Players will need to be level 70 to participate, though players can quickly get there thanks to 250% bonus XP and 350 Galactic Command XP through April 10th.


Star Wars Offers Fans a Platinum Light Saber for About $60

Star Wars: The Old Republic is offering a special light saber to players at the cost of 7600 Cartel Coins for this week only. Running from 3/7 to 3/14 the platinum items is geared towards players who can afford it according to EA.


More Grind Incoming with 100 New Galactic Command Levels

It seems that the older an MMO gets, the more grind it implements to keep top end players "engaged". For you Star Wars: The Old Republic players who haven't gotten enough grind in the first series of Galactic Command levels, get out the peppercorns and loosen up your elbows. Bioware has announced that a hundred new Galactic Command levels are incoming along with "exciting new gear rewards".


Defend the Throne Update Goes Live

Star Wars: The Old Republic has been updated with v5.1 Defend the Throne. Players can take part in five new uprisings and try to hold the throne against all comers. Master Mode difficulty is also live for all twenty five chapters of Knights of the Fallen Empire and Knights of the Eternal Throne.


Five New Uprisings & Much More Arrive in Latest Patch

Star Wars: The Old Republic has been updated with the latest patch that brings five new uprisings into the game. Players can also try out the new master difficulty along with new achievements in both Knights of the Fallen Empire and Knights of the Eternal Throne. Lastly, a number of Galactic Command gear updates have been applied, including new ways to earn Command Tokens, new unassembled gear pieces and much more.


Players Gather on Alderaan to Mourn Carrie Fisher

Today marks a sad day for fans of all things Star Wars with the passing of Carrie Fisher, most famously known for her portrayal of Leia Organa, a princess, rebel and general. Fisher suffered a cardiac arrest on December 23rd and succumbed earlier today. Players in Star Wars: The Old Republic are gathering on Alderaan, the location of the Organa estate. Imgur Bericurra has posted lots of images and a Reddit thread has opened for players to post other gatherings.


Five Years of the Force Celebrated in New Blog

Happy birthday, Star Wars: The Old Republic! It's hard to believe that Bioware's flagship MMO is turning half a decade old today. Not ones to let a good anniversary opportunity go by, Bioware's Ben Irving has posted a great post celebrating the game and its community. To kick off the day, a special character portrait collage representing some of the 87M unique character created over the course of five years has been released.


KotEE Trial Offered to Past Preferred Players Through Jan 3

Those who have yet to give the newest expansion to Star Wars: The Old Republic a try will have a chance to try a portion of it between now and January 3rd. Players should have at one time been a Preferred player attained either through the purchase of Cartel Coins or due to having been a subscriber at one point in the past. Agreeing to receive the SWTOR newsletter is also required. Becoming a Premium subscriber prior to January 3rd will yield 500 Cartel Coins.


Happy 5th Anniversary to SWTOR!

Bioware and the Star Wars: The Old Republic team are celebrating the game's fifth anniversary with some nifty presents for players including a Celebration Jawa, a Senya-inspired Holotrainer and a "breathtaking 7-piece poster art collection" perfect for decorating the walls of your personal stronghold.
