The successor to X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter is finally here and it's pretty damn good. But a simple arcade game it is not. It seems EA has learned its lesson from Battlefront II - at least at face value. In an interview with UploadVR, Motive's creative Director has stated that Star Wars: Squadrons isn't trying "treat the game as a live service."

But that's OK. Speculation is fun! If EA does ever decide to add more ships, these are some of the ships I'd like to see.

If you told me that in the year 2020 I would be getting a remake of Final Fantasy VII, a sequel to Vampire: the Masquerade Bloodlines, Baldur's Gate III, and Star Wars: Squadrons, a spiritual successor to the X-Wing/TIE Fighter series of Star Wars space "sims," I would've told you that you were absolutely full of it.

EA Motive's creative director Ian Frazier announced today during EA's Play event that the upcoming space sim set in a galaxy far, far away, Star Wars: Squadrons will have full cross play.

It looks like that leaked Star Wars: Squadrons game is indeed real, as confirmed by EA.
