Bowman’s Star Trek Online Corner

Bowman’s Star Trek Online Corner

When you think of Star Trek you think of a few things, like humans flying around the universe in powerful ships, exotic alien worlds, and races, and the omnipotent beings like Q. The stories that have been told around this universe have had ups and downs but I think that it has been mostly good. One of the best things Star Trek Online has done is the inclusion of events, such as Q’s Winter Wonderland and The Tzenkethi Go to War events. Let’s dig a little deeper into these events.

Q’s Winter Wonderland happens every year around the same time, December 4th through January 17th. Each year the wonderful people over at Perfect World Entertainment have these types of events to celebrate the holidays and have a little fun with the community. The events also give away ships that are redeemable through event vouchers. This year is no exception to the rules. We have the Fek’Ihri S’torr Warship. It is a tier 6 ship for Rear Admirals and is classified as a Destroyer. You will have to play the mini-game, Fastest Game On Ice, and collect 1,000 winter prize vouchers. I have a gameplay video with the game in action linked below. There are two ways to get these vouchers, the first is the daily grind which bags you enough vouchers to earn the ship after 25 days. The second way is to use your Lobi to purchase them through a holiday item vendor or from the Lobi store directly.

This heavy-duty starship will be your way to fly around in style and back up your military power with its four front and aft weapon emplacements. The big ships aren’t usually the most graceful or nimble, but they pack a punch in a pinch. With two tactical bridge officer stations, one universal pilot station, one engineering station, and finally one science station, you will be able to put your best bridge officers into these slots to maximize the effectiveness of your ship and weapons. One more thing to note about the weapons is that this ship can equip dual cannons. This ship will make a powerful addition to whatever ships you have already amassed and made it highly worthwhile.

What happens when a good man goes to war? Well if you are a Doctor Who fan then you know the answer to that question, but what happens when the Tzenkethi go to war? A race of reptilians with heads like a dragon, who above all else want revenge on the Klingons and Federation. They made a promise to return and return they did. Armed with the most dangerous Proto-bombs, they realized a way to launch them from their ships in massive amounts. Your mission is to protect satellites and stations from being bombarded by these weapons of mass destruction. This mission pits you and four others, from level 50 to 60, in a race against time as you try to protect the many lives that hang in the balance. Have fun in this 5v5 queue based in the Alpha Quadrant. This event was a very short one and ended at 10 am PT on December 31st.

Both events have been very fun, and in the case of Q’s Winter Wonderland, you still have time to try and claim your event warship. Star Trek Online is free to play, so come along and join Starfleet, the Klingon Empire, the Romulan Empire, or the Dominion and have some fun with it.
