The Star Trek Online site has been updated with a new post to detail how players participating in both competitive PvP and PvE events can earn some cool rewards. Players will need to increase standing with "Competitive Wargames" by handing over Competitive Marks earned during battle. Advanced and Elite versions of the wargames earns Assessed Stratagems. These can be used for high-end gear projects to be able to get hold of the best equipment or traded for Dilithium Ore.

The Star Trek Online site has been updated with a new post to lay out the details of the new Player Potential System used in competitive play. The new determination feature will improve the overall PvP experience for all players.

Star Trek Online will be launching its next chapter on April 25th with the arrival of Season 13: Escalation. Players will be headed out to discover where the Lukari come from and dealing with the imminent threat posed by the Tzenkethi fleet.

On April 18th, console Star Trek Online players will be able to get their hands on Season 12: Reckoning. The update sees players journey with the Lukari to check on the Tzenkethi, an ominous threat. In addition, there will be a new featured episode, crafting school, two Tzenkethi space queues and a new space battlezone.

The Star Trek Online site has been updated with a new post detailing a large balance pass the team is making to the game. Changes will be applied to a number of systems including weapons, Carrier Pets, careers and some abilities as well.

The Star Trek Online C-Store has a new offering for players to check out. Those purchasing a Research & Development Pack will have a chance at a faction-based 26th Century Heavy Dreadnought Tier 6 ship -- eerily looking gold plated or perhaps that's just the screens. R&D packs contain a number of crafting materials from common to rare as well as components to research.

Cryptic Studios and Perfect World Entertainment have announced that the console version of Star Trek Online has been updated with the Agents of Yesterday content expansion. Players will be able to create a captain from the time line of Star Trek: The Original Series and work through special task force missions. In addition, gamers can fly classic ships and check out television series content.

Season 12: Reckoning kicks off the game's seventh anniversary and features the inclusion of General Rodek, a role reprised by Tony Todd. Players can take part in daily missions that can ultimately lead to the Lukari ship, a community designed project. Console players will be able to take part in Season 12 at a later date.

Agents of Yesterday for XBox One and PlayStation 4 takes players back to the timeline of Star Trek: The Original Series and brings new episodic content and features into the game.

Perfect World Entertainment and Cryptic Studios have announced that Star Trek Online will celebrating its seventh anniversary with the launch of Season 12 - Reckoning on January 26th for PC players and on for consoles and a later date. The game's anniversary will be packed with give aways, mini-games, a pair of new space queues, a new R&D category and a special episode called "Of Signs & Portents".

Star Trek Online will be bringing another iconic character into the game when General Rodek portrayed by Tony Todd will join the game. The volatile brother of Worf, Rodek will be shown in a younger form as he appeared in The Next Generation and as an older person as in Deep Space 9.

Star Trek Online players taking part on the Tribble test server have uncovered what appears to be a new map sector filled with new locations such as Fesarius, Argus, Draconis and others. What this portends for a future update remains unknown, though the STO team has promised lots of new content for 2017.

Star Trek Online players who were looking forward to the 3D printed version of their favorite ship will be disappointed to hear that the company that had been contracted to complete the models will be closing at the end of the month, hence no ship model. The announcement about the unique ship models was revealed about three months ago but in the intervening months, Eucl3d, the company responsible for printing duties, ran into business issues and will be closing.
