Star Marine Update Published -

The Star Citizen site has been updated with a look at the progress being made on one of the game's core features, Star Marine. While several issues have cropped up during a recent merge to integrate work done by a variety of teams working on the project, Star Marine is progressing as the team continues to battle the bugs.

Over the course of the last week or so, members of the team have been i nDenver working with Illfonic on a pair of game modes and the UI that players will be presented with. Polishing work continues to make it work better than before.

In addition, designers are working on a new game mode to replace something called "Team Elimination" and have already produced a document that will be reviewed and enhanced before more details are released.

Roberts indicates that the entire feature list for Star Marine is complete and that "feature bloat" is under control, though at times it can be a difficult fight to keep things in perspective. New ideas that have merit will make it into the game at some point, but the goal is to get a functioning and fun iteration of Star Marine into player hands and then to add new features and components over time.

Roberts goes on to look at several individual disciplines including audio, gameplay, UI, art, animation and animation blockers.

You can read the very comprehensive letter on the Star Citizen site.
