3.0 Delay Concerns Addressed by Will Leverett

With the long awaited v3.0 update to Star Citizen still undated, players have been expressing concern over the delay. The update was first planned for late 2016, but with the fast approach of late 2017, there is no deployment in site. A new post on the "Spectrum" from Will Leverett addresses player concerns, most notably by saying that the production schedule was made as a framework, not as something set in stone.

As gamers, we are conditioned to consider all dates as static points in time that we can wrap our heads around and plan for in advance. The nature of this project does not neatly fit into that mold due to the complexity of what we’re building, and with what we learn about what's possible and needed along the way. These date ranges are dynamic according to the challenges presented to us at that time, and we actively maintain that to keep you up to date.

According to the post, when 3.0 is "ready for primetime", it will be released. Equally important, writes Leverett, is for players to remember that 3.0 of last year is a "shadow of what 3.0 means today". By this he refers to infrastructure updates, explorable solar systems alone with the back end systems to make viable, streaming tech and much more.

You can read the full letter on the Star Citizen site.

Thanks, anonymous tipster (via MassivelyOP), for the update!
