Let There Be Dragons

Let There Be Dragons - Shroud of the Avatar - MMORPG.com

The Shroud of the Avatar team has sent out this week's newsletter that, as usual, is packed with information about development and community news throughout the week.

One of the interesting pieces is the development of dragons from an artistic perspective. A few screens featuring dragons are shown that show off the work of the team.

Also, players interested in finding out more about the "use-base" system that Shroud of the Avatar will incorporate. In this second part, several key points are made:

  • players will become masters at a skill through repetitive use of abilities
  • some of this experience can be earned by participating in the game, with a general pool of "to be spent" points
  • each skill has its own level system
  • active skills level with use, passives slowly over time
So why spend the effort to be a grandmaster? Because to some players, that last few % is all the motivation they need to work for it. Additionally, becoming a grandmaster in a skill will let you unlock the grandmaster title that you can proudly display. What better way to attract new customers than to proudly display your “Grandmaster Weaponsmith” title. Also, if you’re trying to send a message to would be challengers, just fly your “Grandmaster Swordsman”. Those titles likely won’t make R21 but those, and probably some Steam achievements, will make a later release.
