Shroud of the Avatar Articles

The Shroud of the Avatar team has announced a new six week long contest called "48 hour Shroud Scene Jams". Each weekend beginning September 20th, fans of the game will be challenged with creating a scene based on information given by the developers and by using the Unity engine. Forty-eight hours will be granted for the creation and upload of the scene.

The latest update from the Shroud of the Avatar team allows players to check out the latest animations from the team with regard to the male avatar. The post indicates that the animations have been redone and much, much more.

During last night's live interview with Shroud of the Avatar's Starr Long, a bit of exclusive lore information was revealed. Players who have been following the game might be wondering why Shroud's world seems to have so much more technology than Garriott's previous games, and Starr was not coy about giving us an answer for that. As in the Ultima series, players' Avatars are transported to the game world from the real world (like the now famous Avatar), but you are not the only one.

Shroud of the Avatar now sports the dynamic duo behind Ultima Online now that Starr Long has joined the Portalarium development team. The announcement was made during Garriott's keynote address during the RTX 2013 convention earlier this week.

Portalarium has announced that over two million dollars has been raised for the development of Shroud of the Avatar via Kickstarter backing. The funding campaign ended on Sunday, April 7th after crossing the two million dollar mark.

Portalarium has announced that backers can now choose Paypal as a funding option for Richard Garriott's Shroud of the Avatar. The Paypal function is only available at the official site rather than at the KickStarter page.

Shroud of the Avatar's Richard Garriott has posted a rebuttal to his quote indicating that "all game designers suck" quote. In his letter, Garriott says that the words were taken out of context.

In a new interview at PC Gamer, Richard Garriott has revealed that he believes "most game designers really just suck." He goes on to say that the reason for this is due to a lack of quality education in awesome game design and a lack of fundamental cross-job training.
