Secret World Legends Articles

Issue 11 is ready to be unleashed on The Secret World later today (if not already) and is something that is going to be very special for players. This is the story finale of the Tokyo storyline and the first major story since launch. In fact, Lead Designer Romain Amiel and Tor Egil Andersen called it the end of “Season 1” of The Secret World, an incredibly long season that has lasted since launch in June of 2012.

The Secret World players will be happy to hear that Issue 11, the conclusion of the Tokyo story line, is headed to live service on May 6th. The announcement was made on Lead Designer Romain Amiel's Twitter.

The Secret World Community Team recently started a new initiative called "#IAMTSW" that gives players a chance to participate in any one of several week's competitions. We had the opportunity to chat with Senior Community Manager Laurie Payne about #IAMTSW. See what she had to say and check out some of the amazing creations by the TSW community.

The latest monthly newsletter has been published on The Secret World site. Letter writing duties have fallen to Senior Community Manager Laurie "sezmra" Payne since Joel Bylos has moved on to some other unnamed project within Funcom. This month, Payne reviews March including Golden Week, the #IAMTSW contest and the newly implemented Enhanced Player Experience.

Funcom has posted a new pair of images on The Secret World Facebook page that they say should "help clear things up". The images are obviously puzzle pieces of a larger picture that teases...what? You tell us!

When a new MMO launches, sometimes it seems like the “new player experience” wasn’t very high on the priority list for some developers. Which, in the grand scheme of things, makes sense to a certain degree. While every player starts at the bottom and has to go through the new player experience at least once, the reality is that the vast majority of gameplay takes place once a character has reached max-level, otherwise known as the “end game.”

Funcom has announced that Golden Week has kicked off in The Secret World. During the week, several interesting items and bonuses are available in the Item Shop. Most notably, however, is that players will earn double ability points and will have a chance to hunt down the Guardian of Gaia, a randomly spawning golem that can award players with some awesome in-game items.

Funcom has announced that a new story pack for The Secret World is available for a great price. Called the "Ultimate Tokyo Story Pack", the collection includes an Orochi pilot jumpsuit, two side-stories packs with eleven extra missions, and Issues 9-11. Issue 11 will bring the Tokyo story to a close and will be released in April 2015.

The Secret World was updated earlier today with the Enhanced Player Experience that brings a host of big changes to players in the earliest levels of the game and some overall improvements that are sure to please even the most veteran of players. We chatted with Lead Designer Romain Amiel to find out more.

Funcom has announced that The Secret World has been updated to bring the Enhanced Player Experience online. Players can expect faster monster kill times, two starter weapons to allow more flexibility on starting a new character, improved rewards and more.

Funcom's Joel Bylos has penned what may be one of his last Game Director's Letters for The Secret World. In it, he mentions that he will be moving on to a "new initiative" within Funcom. Bylos does not offer any further details but does mention that it will require his full focus and, as a result, he will be (and has been) handing off many of his TSW duties to others on the team.
