The Sea of Thieves team has revealed the system specs for the game that will be launching on March 20th. In addition, Rare will be adding microtransactions after launch, though they will never include a loot box system. The microtransaction system is "an optional way for people to spend money in our game, because we are running it as a service with a large team." said Executive Producer Joe Neate. "Anything we add in this area won't affect power, won't affect progression."

Neate continued, "Our plans for launch is to deliver a good game experience, and so all our efforts are going to be on making sure everyone's happy, we're reacting to feedback if there are any issues, etc. But then, as we move into our service-based game, think about a month or two after launch, we're thinking about our first major update that has new goals for people to achieve, new rewards and stuff."

One of the things Rare is looking to add are purchasable pets such as a monkey, though they're also toying with ways to earn pets in game as well. While it will not offer any mechanical or gameplay advantage, it will interact with your character and crew, thus adding to the game's social nature.

In addition to the news about microtransactions and the lack of loot boxes, Rare also revealed an impressive list of system specs for just about every conceivable PC configuration all the way from 540p @30 FPS to 4k @ 60 FPS. You can see them all below.
