Latest Update Rewards 'Providers' with XP Gains - MMORPG.com

The latest Rust site update details an innovative new way to earn experience for those who may prefer less combat-oriented roles. In a nutshell, those who provide materials or construction of items that are used in pursuit of something else will gain a portion of the total experience gained.

The example given is that of a Fish Trap. The person who makes the trap will gain experience when it is used under the new system. The same applies to cooking and then giving those items to other players. Harvested resources used in the creation of something earns experience for the harvester and so on.

Some people have raised concerns on reddit about sharing XP with your friends. Understand that this system is functional and fun, but incomplete. Please rest assured we will be watching for balance issues and exploits and the system is a work in progress. We don’t want groups of 20 people unlocking an AK47 on Day 1 while everyone else is still using hatchets. It needs a lot more testing and we need a lot more feedback.

The update blog also goes into some detail about other things the team has been working on including:

  • dungeon progress
  • launcher update
  • bone armor
  • stability balance
  • gunplay
  • throwable weapons
  • XP notifications
  • music
  • the double-barreled shotgun
  • player animations

Read the full update on the Rust site.

Thanks Volgore & PCGamesN!
