Jagex's venerable free-to-play MMO, RuneScape, has officially passed the 200 million account milestone today.

RuneScape players who were not selected to participate in last week's Combat Beta will want to check into the game from July 6-9 to try out the Combat Evolution, the latest upgrade to the game.

The Runescape team has announced that the much awaited Evolution of Combat overhaul has officially kicked off its beta phase starting today.

This weekend marks the Jubilee Anniversary celebration for the Queen of England and the native developers at Jagex plan to bring the party into RuneScape.

The RuneScape team is ready to reveal details about the Evolution of Combat update that will shortly arrive in a limited-access beta phase. According to the team, the update with retool the entire combat system to give players a revolutionary new way to fight.

The RuneScape team has detailed some nice new loyalty rewards for players who remain members throughout the month of May. Players staying with the game the entire month of May will receive bonus spins for Squeal of Fortune and 5,000 loyalty points at the end of the month.

Jagex has sent out a brand new Runescape trailer to show off the overhauled new player experience. Called "The Troll Warzone, the new area brings a brand new quest line into Runescape designed to introduce new players to the game and to familiarize them with RuneScape's lore.

The RuneScape team has laid out all of the details for the Easter season. According to information, the Easter Bunny is missing and Chocatrice and Evil Chicken have wagered on which one will turn the most fluffy chicks into tonight's dinner.

RuneScape players will want to check into the game beginning Friday, March 16th for a bonus weekend. According to the press release, players will receive "a multiplier on any standard training activity they perform as they play. This multiplier will begin at 2.7 times the normal training activities rate, and will decrease every thirty minutes of game time until it reaches 1.1 times the rate, where it will remain for the rest of the Bonus XP Weekend."

Jagex Studios has announced that Simon Etchells has been appointed the Global Marketing Manager. Etchells brings over twenty years of experience to the Runescape developer with ties to Microsoft Xbox, Vivendi Universal, LucasArts, Square Enix, Electronic Arts and Nokia.

RuneScape players will want to check out the new Squeal of Fortune game of chance. Run by the goblin Yelp, players can spin the wheel once a day for a chance to win in-game rewards.

Jagex has been handed a major legal victory in its battle against bots in RuneScape. A decision has been handed down that compels Mark and Eric Snellman to pay Jagex compensatory damages for their creation of bots to be used in RuneScape.

A U.S. venture capital corporation has purchased a majority stock option in Jagex Studios, developers of RuneScape. The purchase moves the financial base of control from the U.K. to the United States. According to Gamasutra, Jagex will pay off its pending expenses with the capital raised through the sale. By so doing, the development of its new Transformers project will be accelerated.
