Play Rocket League for Free Starting Today!

From today through Monday, July 15th, players on PC (Steam), Xbox One (Xbox Live Gold) and PlayStation 4 can play Rocket League for free. It's the perfect time to celebrate the game's fourth birthday and take part in the totally tubular 80s throwback summer event! All of the game's content is available for intrepid fans, so be sure to log in and try it out.


Rocket League's Radical Summer Will Take You Back to the Totally Tubular 80s

Comb your mullet, grab your boom box and put on your big-shouldered jackets and baggy pants! Rocket League is getting ready to kick off its Radical Summer that will see the game revisit some of the biggest franchises of the 80s. The event will last nine weeks beginning June 10th. Players will be able to score free items, check out new Premium Licensed DLC, limited time game modes and more.


Epic Games Snaps Up Rocket League Developer Psyonix

Epic Games has announced that it has purchased San Diego developer, Psyonix. Psyonix is best known for Rocket League, its popular Unreal Engine game. Rocket League will be making the move to the Epic Games Store later in 2019, though, at least for the time being, it will remain for sale on Steam. Epic has further clarified that it will continue to support the Steam version with DLC, patches and any other content that is released for PC.


Rocket League Announces the Esports Shop & Rocket Pass 3

On April 16th, Rocket League players will be able to check out the brand new Esports Shop that will allow them to show off with gear themed around their favorite squads taking part in the esports division. In addition, Rocket Pass 3 will launch on April 17th with the new Challenge System. The team has promised that more will be revealed in an in-depth developer post "very soon".


Rocket League's Friends Update Will Add a Cross Platform Friends List & Party Tools

When the Friends Update goes live in Rocket League on February 19th, players will be able to create cross-platform friends lists and be able to form parties before heading into game to take on others. The Friends List is divided into four sections: Friends, RocketID, Recent Players and Alerts. Players will be able to keep tabs on their friends online status.


Rocket League is Now Fully Cross-Platform Compatible for PC, PS4, Switch, & XB1

Rocket League has entered a new era of full cross platform gameplay thanks to the commencement of the PlayStation 4 beta. Players on PC via Steam, Switch, XBox One and PlayStation 4 can make and play games together in all match types including Casual, Competitive and Extra.


Rocket League's Cross-Platform Party Feature Delayed to Early 2019

Psyonix has announced that the cross-platform party feature for Rocket League is being delayed to early 2019. Called "RocketID", the feature was planned for release by the end of 2018. However, while disappointing, Psyonix will be using the extra time to leveral Sony's recent decision to allow "full cross-platform functionality" and the team will be working to make sure that RocketID is ready to go for all platforms "should we receive permission to do so".


Rocket League Players Can Enjoy Double XP This Weekend as Haunted Hallows Looms

From now through Monday, October 15th, Rocket League players can earn double XP for the first time ever. The event is in celebration of the 10th anniversary of Psyonix's first game, Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars that morphed into Rocket League nearly a decade later.


Rocket League's Hot Wheels DLC Races Into Game

Rocket League's latest DLC is out and about, this time bringing Hot Wheels to players. It not only contains a variety of 50th anniversary-themed customization options for vehicles, but also the addition of new "Extra Modes" for Competitive Season 9; a new Rocket League x Monstercat Volume 4 playlist; a variety of QoL improvements and the brand new Hot Wheels Rivals Arena.


'Progression Update' to Go Live on August 29th

Psyonix has announced that Rocket League will be patched on August 29th to bring the "Progression Update" online. In the entirely new system, the level cap will be removed and it "flattens the amount of XP needed for leveling up". In addition, players will be able to create, manage or join Clubs of up to 20-members each. Lastly a number of new achievements and trophies will be added alongside various quality of life improvements.


Physical Ultimate Edition to Arrive in Stores on August 28th

Psyonix and Warner Bros. Interactive Games have announced that a physical "Ultimate Edition" of Rocket League will be coming to stores in North America on August 28th and in Europe on August 31st. The Ultimate Edition will retail for $39.99 for PlayStation 4 and XBox One, $49.99 for Nintendo Switch.

From Thursday, July 5th through Monday, July 9th, XBox One Live Gold subscribers and Steam PC players can take part in a free weekend of fun in Rocket League. The event will feature all available game modes including Casual and Competitive Playlists and Arenas as well as the brand new Salty Shores Arena added this past May.


Racing Out the Door for Its Third Anniversary

Rocket League is turning three years old in July and the team has big plans for a celebration in the real world. On July 19th from 3:00 pm - 9:00 pm Pacific, the team will be on hand at Petco Park in San Diego where fans will be able to celebrate the game all day long. It's an open party where everyone will receive free popcorn, can check out celebrity guests and even see a couple of the game's cars all decked out in real life (the Jurassic Jeep Wrangler & the Back to the Future DeLorean).


Crossover Into Jurassic World with the New Car Pack DLC

Rocket League is bringing a bit of Jurassic World into the game with the addition of the themed car pack for $2. The vehicles arrive just ahead of the release of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. The pack contains a Jurassic Jeep & decals, a T. Rex goal explosion, and themed hat topper, player banners and InGen flags.


Experience Flower Power During the Spring Fever Event

Rocket League has been updated to bring the Flower Power event online. Flower Power will be running from today through April 9th. The event features a Spring Fever crate that can be dropped while playing online, unlocked during the event's special "flowers" currency or purchased outright from the in-game shop. In addition to the crate, players can score ten new items including lots of flowery items and even wheels that are literally donuts!
