Open Beta & Beyond Detailed in New Producer's Letter

Open Beta & Beyond Detailed in New Producer's Letter -

A new producer's letter has been published on the Riders of Icarus site that gives players a look at the open beta itself and at what the team has planned for the months in the immediate aftermath of the open beta.

When the OBT begins on July 6th, players will have a number of new locations, dungeons and mounts. During open beta, the level cap will be 25, though it will be raised to 35 at the time of the first patch later in July.

PvP with PvE elements will be arriving in the months shortly after OBT ends. The system will place teams on opposite ends of a map with mobs and bosses in the middle. As the fight against PvE elements takes place, teams will clash "organically".  Team scores will determine the winner.

The Exarahn Badlands PvP zone will be made available post level 25 and others not in a player's guild or party are the enemy when battle begins. In addition, guild battles will take place here each week to determine the best of the best.

The next part of the letter specifically deals with premium currency and how the RoI team is ensuring that F2P players will be able to earn within the game and without the necessity of spending real world dollars.

During Open Beta, dedicated Riders of Icarus players can earn up to 250 free Elluns ($25 value) each month, and nearly 600 free Elluns ($60 value) through one-time achievements. The ways in which Elluns can be obtained through gameplay will continue to be expanded as we release new content in the future.

The final portion of the letter deals with the in-game shop and describes how it is designed specifically with convenience and style.

Those are just some of the changes we made to Ellora’s Shop. Unlike other territories, the character costumes in the North American and Europe Riders of Icarus release will not have bonus stats attached, and they are permanent instead of being duration-based.

On that topic, new skins for your familiars don’t just change the look of your mount or pet. They can provide speed and health boosts. True to our Free-to-Play philosophy, familiar skins will be available in Ellora’s Shop as well as through gameplay.
