Unlike Red Dead Redemption 2, the first game never made it to PC. However, that doesn’t mean people have tried to port it, and subsequently gotten shut down by Take-Two.

In a lawsuit acquired by TorrentFreak (via PCGamesN) Take-Two alleged that developer Jonathan Wyckoff (and ten other unnamed co-defendants) were planning to, “distribute unauthorized software files that would dramatically change the content of Take-Two’s video games.”

They were planning on doing this by porting Red Dead Redemption to PC. Wyckoff posted on his project thread on GTAForums that the project, dubbed Red Dead Redemption Damned Enhancement Project, was cancelled.

He followed up and wrote,

“As i am shocked not even i knew and found out Take Two filed a law suit. I was debating to cancel this. And without letting me know they filed one. I want to step away from any R* game now. I do not want this law suit can not afford it.”

Take-Two alleges the mod project amounts to at least $500,000 in damages. Wyckoff wrote that if Take-Two had given him more time, he may have planned to cancel the project,

“I had planned to cancel the project after some thought a while ago was too caught with life stuff. They should had waited and give me more time. And i agreed. Was bad move and will hope they just drop the case. I wanted to make and release a video earlier this month.”
