In a blog post today, Rockstar announced player roles will be coming to Red Dead Online “soon.”
Three new roles are coming to the wild west this month: the Bounty Hunter, the Trader, and the Collector.
The Bounty Hunter, “can track down targets and capture – or kill, depending on how honorable you are in your pursuits.” Sometimes, a nearby player can be a target as well if that player has a high enough bounty. Progression will see you unlock new reinforced lasso, gun-spinning tricks, advanced tracking skills like using Eagle-Eye while sprinting, galloping on horseback, plus more.
The Trader allows you to establish a business from your camp. Continuing to improve skill as a Trader, “unlocks the ability to upgrade your Camp with a Weapons Locker, Stew Pot and even allow any canine companion to warn of impending attacks on the camp.”
Finally, the Collector is for the explorers to find lost jewelry, rare arrowheads, and other treasures, As you progress, you will, “gain access to tools that help your search including Refined Binoculars, a Horse Lantern and even a Metal Detector, as well as gaining additional skills to help you seek and discover the world’s greatest rarities.”
Additional updates include changes across the board to combat and movement for a more responsive control system.
